Lonely Planet Guide Book Corsica
        RRP £12.99

Summary

A good all round guide to the island. Lots of practical information, particularly around urban areas as you would expect from Lonely Planet.

Latest updated 4th edition of the Lonely Planet Corsica guide book was published in 2007.

Format

304 pages

A reasonably compact guide to carry around.

Maps

An overview map in the frontpiece that gives an overview of the principal towns, roads and railways

Inside there are small black and white maps of each region and street maps for each principal town. The maps are functional but uninspiring. I recommend the guide is used with separate sheet maps.

Photos

There is an uninspiring picture of a donkey on the cover which is surprising given the wealth of spectacular mountain and beach scenery in Corsica.

There are then plenty of colour photos to whet your appetite at the front of the book but nothing else apart from a couple of photos at the start of each chapter.

Area covered

All of Corsica

Review

This guide is produced to the standard Lonely Planet formula. It is functional, reliable and provides a wealth of practical information. The detail is inevitably stretched thinly as the whole of Corsica is covered. The emphasis is on the towns and there are large sections on where to stay, where to eat and what sites to see.

The Lonely Planet Corsica guidebook is strong on setting the historical and cultural scene.

**** Four star 4/5
